Volunteer
CAN needs you! Many people do not realize the amount of brokenness and pain in the Grove City community. People in our community are struggling with joblessness, drug addiction, catastrophic illnesses, and sometimes just plain bad luck. Volunteers are an essential part of this ministry, perhaps even the most important part. Every single member of CAN is a volunteer. Volunteers make up our entire leadership, all of our caseworkers, and every volunteer who takes an hour to lend a hand. Qualities in a Volunteer
What sort of qualities does CAN look for in its volunteers? First of all, as a specifically Christian Assistance Network, one of the requirements is that a volunteer must be Christian. Clients need not be Christians, but CAN was founded on the ministry of Jesus Christ and thus requires that all of its volunteer members have a personal relationship with Jesus. Besides this, the volunteers must be willing to confront the realities of a community that is not as well as he may think it is. A volunteer must be adaptable and willing to be flexible, he must be intuitive in his decision making, and he must be compassionate. CAN needs volunteers who have qualification just like this to help their ministry.
